Abstract

A wheel (1) carrying turbine blades (16) has a row of corrugated (2) machined into the rim forming a slot (5) which tapers towards the centre of rotation. The blade root (9) has a similar set of corrugations milled on to it. A key section (4) fits into the wheel slot and the space formed between the corrugations on adjacent blade roots. An indentation (15) is formed at the bottom of the blade root and the key. A locking tab (11) has a raised section (13). When the tab is inserted the blade and key are locked in the longitudinal direction, the design of the blade root (9) and corrugations (2) anchor the blade radially.
