Abstract

In a process for preparing mercaptobenythiazole (I) from aniline, S and CS2, 1) (I) is separated from the side prodn. 2) the side prods. are fractionated to obtain benythiazole (II) and 3) (II) is reacted with S to yield additional (I). The additional (I) is easily purified with solvents and not discoloured as in prior art. (I) is an accelerator for rubbers.
