Abstract

The protective guard fits onto a circular saw (2) and prevents the operator contacting the blade, the work passing freely through. It comprises an inverted U-shaped top cover (5), fixed to the separator blade behind the saw. Each side of this cover are side plates (9) attached to front and rear links (7) by pivots (6, 8) to form a parallelogram. The two plates are joined together by a U-shaped bracket (10, 11) passing over the top of the fixed cover. A handle (12) manually raises the side plates, a stop (13) limiting the movement. The work pushes the side plates upwards as it progresses through the machine.
