Abstract

A compressor for fluids consists of a baseplate (2) and side plates (1) between which is a cylindrical chamber (3). Inside the chamber is a barrel shaped piston (4). The sides (5) the piston have the same radius of curvature as the inside of the cylinder. The bottom of the piston (7) is held against a seal (16) by screws at each end which allow the piston to oscillate as shown by the arrow (f). The top of the piston (13) has sprung seals (100) which bear against a liner (15) which has the same radius as the distance between the top and bottom of the piston. A shaft (19) is fitted with a cam (23) sliding in a bearing (24). Outside the bearing is a rubber lined sleeve which transmits the motion of the cam to the piston making it oscillate.
