Abstract

An antifriction material comprises a hardened mixt. of 10-95 wt.% filler and 5-90 wt.% binder (I). (I) is a mixt. of polyphenylene contg. ketoacetal and/or acetal groups of formula (II): In the formula, R1 is a phenylene, 4,4'-diphenylether; 4,4'-diphenylmethane or 4,4'-diphenylether; 4,4'-diphenylmethane or a 4,4'-dipenyl residue; R2 is phenyl or p-pH-(CH2)mCH3; R3 and R4 are -COCH3 or -C(OC2H5)2-CH3; n is 2-15 and 10-500 and m is 1-4, with the proviso that the fraction of the mixt. where n is 2-15 comprise 4-20wt.% binder. The material combines the properties of a solid lubricant and a construction material and may be used at temps. 300 degrees C. The material may be used for bearing coverings, drum bearing cages and gears.
