Abstract

Technique permitting rectangular waveguides to be bent through a variety of shapes in different planes without incurring a loss in performance due to undue distortion of the waveguides (12) cross section. Individual shapes are obtained by the use of upper (11) and lower (10) forming blocks which together determine the final waveguide curvature. Internal shape is maintained by a stack of steel laminations (13) which move freely over each other as the blocks press the guide into its final shape. Cross-section is maintained through changes in plane by replacing the lamination by a hard setting resin. Cracks in the resin due to bending and consequent wall distortion are insufficient to cause any significant loss in performance.
