Abstract

Difluorhexidine of formula A(CH2)6A (I) and its dihydrofluoride, dihydrochloride and digluconate are novel cpds. In the formula A is of formula -NH-C(=NH)-NH-C(=NH)-NH-p-C6H4F. (I) are bactericides, fungicides, and cariostatic agents which are used in buccal hygiene and dental applications, at levels of 50-100 mg (I) per 100 g of prod. They are formulated as mouth washes, gels, dentifrices and dental varnishes and obturation material (amalgams, cements etc.).
