Abstract

The invalid tricycle, driven by hand, has a foot rest (8) across the front designed so that a central part (47, 48) can be slid sideways, to divide it, then the two ends (43, 44) can be swung backwards leaving the space between the wheel free. The chains (12) each side are driven by gripping wheels (31, 32) which have handles (33) projecting from them, and the chains are enclosed by chain guards (35). The complete chain drives, including the gripping wheels and the chain guards can be tilted towards or away from the seat (9) in suit the user. These are guided and supported on curved rails (39, 40) over the wheels, following their contour. These drives are attached to slides which travel on the rails, and which can be locked in the required position.
