Abstract
The knuckle joint is inserted in the exhaust pipe between the engine and the first support bracket on the vehicle chassis to accommodate vibration between the two. One end of the exhaust pipe (14) is placed inside a mandrel which has a spherical section. The end of the pipe is pressed out by hydraulic pressure to form a spherical cup. The other end of the pipe joint (15) is inserted from the other end so as to form an overlap with the first. Hydraulic pressure is again applied again to form the knuckle joint. The joint may be moved at will after removal from the mandrel and is gas tight.
