Abstract
The cavity wall insulation equipment delivers expanded silicate or other granular insulation material by means of a low-pressure compressor (8). The material is stored in a sealed hopper (1) with filling cover (2) and a cone-shaped bottom (3), discharging into a chamber (6) to which a pipe (7) from the compressor is connected. A branch (9) from this pipe leads into the hopper to aid the flow of material (G), and a further pipe (10) leads from the chamber to the cavity between the walls (11, 12). The material used can be treated to give it a degree of hardness and negligible moisture absorption in use. A cellulose chemical additive can be mixed with it, having a reaction such that the particles slowly fuse together on installation, and cannot run out if a hole is knocked in one of the walls.
