Abstract

The bulk unloader is used inside a ship's hold and has a lower horizontal pick-up arm rotatable over a full circle to sweep a wide area. The bulk material is removed by means of a scraper conveyor its vertical portion being enclosed. The conveyor is in the form of an endless belt passing over return pulleys. The material is discharged at the top, to fall onto another conveyor of annular configuration. This ensures the material is collected, irrespective of the rotation of the scraper conveyor. The material is finally deposited by the annular conveyor onto another conveyor carrying it away.
