Abstract

External fastener for reducing bone fractures comprises transfixing pins >=2 of which are joined together by slide supports to form a group, and locking means for positioning the groups of pins relative to each other. Connected to each group of pins is an articulated hoop and the hoops are connected to each other in pairs by at least three connecting rods to hold them in position. Pref. the hoop is connected to the slide supports for the group of pins by means of ball and socket joints which can be locked in a given position and connection between the hoops and connecting rods, which are of adjustable length is ensured by ball and socket joints which can be locked in a given direction. Pref. >=1 of the smooth portions of the pins is coated with PTFE.
