Abstract
Air intake (4) contains a vortex shedding flow metering unit (8) to produce electrical impulses with a frequency proportional to the air flow volume. The output is fed to a control circuit (12). The circuit integrates information concerning engine speed (14) air intake temp. (16) battery output (17) and engine cooling medium temp. (19). The electronic regulator produces a corresponding series of square wave impuses of predetermined dwell (18) to effect the exact fuel dosage to a fuel injector (20). The impulse dwell is primarily determined by the air intake volume and modified by engine working conditions. The fuel injector ball valve is vibrated at ultrasonic speed by a piezo electric crystal to spray the fuel into the inlet manifold. A heater pipe (30) connecting the exhaust manifold (34) with the inlet manifold and containing a vaporisable material such as sodium is fitted opposite to the spray jet to assist vapourisation.
