Abstract

The grip (1) is moulded directly onto the butt (3) of a fishing rod. It can be a straight cylindrical shape or have flared ends; it may also be moulded to fit the hand. The core is a foam plastics which is applied as a single thick layer, or as several thinner layers (7, 8, 9); these several layers can be of differing foam densities. The outer cover (4) is a single skin or plastics, moulded over the core or fitted as a shrink wrap plastics sheath. Alternatively, cork or rubber may be used. The surface of the cover may be smooth or straited for better holding.
