Abstract

A safety valve for a cistern under depressurisation is carried by a membrane which moves under depressurisation to cause the valve to open. A reserve of depressurisation enables a stable balanced position to be attained without hammer effect. A safety valve (5) is carried by a membrane (6) which forms a small chamber (7) with a channel (8) to the exterior. The other face of the membrane forms a second chamber (9) containing a return spring (10) and a channel (13) to the exterior. a valve enables this chamber to communicate with a third chamber (14) with a diaphragm (15) carrying a piston (16) which is moved to open the valve (12) when depressurisation increases. This causes the safety valve (5) to open.
