Abstract

Developer compsn. for electrostatic images comprises a mixt. of (1) toner particles contg. a colourant and a binder which is a copolymer contg. 50-90 mole % units of formula -(CHX-CH2)-(I) (where X is (alkyl)phenyl) and 10-50 mole % units of formula -(CH(CH2R)-CH2)-(where R is OH opt. esterified with a higher aliphatic acid, (pref. 12-20C). provides that 0.5 wt. % free OH gps. are present), and (2) superficially oxidised Al (alloy)support particles. The compsn. gives sharp images having good contrast and with good density on the edges as well as on the large image zones. Compsn. is esp. suitable for cascade development.
