Abstract

The tensioning unit has >=2 tensioning rings supported on a ring which encircles the drum ear its lower end and is held by a fixed support. The tensioning rings are pref. made of plastic and are of one-piece construction with integral spacers so that the rings when resting on top of one another are held at a selected axial distance from one another. The spacers comprises upward directed ring ribs or several projections integrally formed at intervals on the circumference of the ring. The use of several rings each exerting limited tensioning force achieves a more uniform yarn tension than does a single stiffer and stronger tensioning ring.
