Abstract
The piston (1) reciprocating piston, is on the inside of the piston wall (4) in sliding contact with the cylinder wall provided with a chamber (6) containing a material (10) with low specific gravity and high thermal conductivity. The material may be a pre-determined amount of metallic sodium contained in a totally enclosed chamber (6). The piston wall may have portions (5) of increased thickness on either side of the gudgeon pins (2) with chambers (6) formed in these portions and extending from the lower ends of the wall to the piston top.
