Abstract

In a method of enamelling and vitrifying ceramic pieces the enamel is applied on part or all the surface of the ceramic ports after moulding and prior to firing, esp. directly after exit from the moulding machine. The moulded material may be in the wet state or dried naturally or by any known heat treatment process. The enamel is applied by any adequate method prior to the body entering the firing furnace. Used esp. for solid or hollow bricks or shapes, the process avoids multiple firing steps with consequent reduction in prodn. time, prodn. plant and floor space, etc.
