Abstract

Appts. for detecting microbial infection comprises a strip of plastic material with a holding means at the end. On its two faces are honeycombs occupied by areas of a solid culture medium. At least one of the areas, intended for numeration, does nt contain any anti-microbial agent; the other areas, smaller than the first, are occupied by a culture medium in which is distributed a specific antimicrobial agent with a different agent for each area. Each of these areas contain a reactant for observing the growth of germs to determine which antimicrobial agents are effective. The improvement comprises two side pieces for guiding the strip to avoid contact of the culture medium with the wall of the container in which the strip is carried. The appts. is partic. used for detecting urinary infections. The appts. is simple and cheap and the improvement provides a suitable means of keeping the strips isolated in the container.
