Abstract

Flame-resistant cardboard or plate contains 10-85 wt.% (pref. 20-65 wt.%) of lignocellulose particles, 85-10 wt.% (pref. 65-20 wt.%) of bauxite particles and 5-25 wt.% of a binder. The bauxite contains >=20 wt.% of chemically bound water, which volatiles at temps above 200 degrees C. The cardboard or plate is esp. suitable for use as a core for walls or doors, or other building elements. The water evaporates at an elevated temp. exerts fire-retarding action. Below 200 degrees C the material is stable. The material is relatively cheap, has good outlook and sufficient workability. The cellulose hydrogel binder improves the water resistance of the material it also act as a dispensing agent.
