Abstract

The hydraulically-operated grip is particularly for handling the wheels of large earthmoving machines, having three arms and being for attachment to the jib of a lorry-mounted auxiliary crane. The lower arms (23,24) are arranged in a V-pattern, while the vertical upper arm (21) is actuated by a double-acting hydraulic ram. The three arms are mounted on a central component (19) rocking freely on a first spindle in a support pivoting on a jib on a second spindle orthogonal to the first. The angle of the support is regulated by a ram (15) acting between it and a mounting (13) on the jib (12). The hydraulic circuits control both the angle of the grip and its engagement with the wheel (3).
