Abstract
The tap has a part spherical obturator (11) and is for controlling the discharge of powder under pressure from a storage bin. The obturator (11) has an axial passage (12) of circular cross-section and is secured between two horizontal flanges (6,15) with axis vertical. Sealing gaskets are placed between the opposed vertical extremities of the obturator (11) and the flanges (6,15) and the flanges are drawn together by bolts to hold the obturator in place. When viewed in plan the bolt locations are offset relative to the obturator exterior. The demountable cores (21) may have a bore which comprises opposed funnel mouths interposed by a length (22) of uniform dia. Powder flow may be promoted by gas jets introduced into the core.
