Abstract

Compsn. contains as active ingredient carboxymethylthioacetic acid of formula HOOC.CH2.S.CH2.COOH (I). Pref. the dose is 3-10 mg/kg/day, esp. given as tablets contg. about 100 mg (I). (I) reduces endobronchial retention of mucus and falciform hyperplasia, and is useful e.g. in treatment of bronchitis, emphysema, otitis, sinusitis etc. In mice the oral LO50 is 2.9 g/kg and the max. tolerable dose 2g/kg.
