Abstract

The ram operates on the "step-by-step" principle, having two members moving in relation to each other under the action of a medium pressure in a control chamber. This is supplied via a distributor with a slide fixed to one of the members, and with a number of ports at intervals connected to the chamber. The slide works in a sheath fixed to the other member, and having three or more outlet ports supplied selectively with medium under pressure. The slide (1) is of prismatic section, and the ports in it are transverse grooves (9) in two or more of its faces. One or more of its lengthwise edges (3,4) chamfered so as to form with the sheath a passage into which the grooves lead, and which is connected to the control chamber.
