Abstract

Adjustable external rear view mirror for automobile vehicle comrises a mirror frame made of stamped plastic, pref. propylene, and a metal mounting base with a connecting arm. At the free end of the arm is a spherical attachment which is incorporated in the mirror frame during stamping to form a ball joint between the mounting base and mirror frame. Pref. the mounting base, including the connecting arm and its spherical attachment, is made of a light alloy by pressure-diecasting. The resulting rear view mirror in simple and functional, can maintain the position in which it has been placed, but can nevertheless be folded back against the bodywork of the vehicle in case of impact.
