Abstract

The device is for moulding a handle onto a knife haft (2) and uses a fork shaped insert (8) to secure the blade centrally during the injection phase. The insert is slid into the assembled mould to engage the edge of the haft (2). Two handle mould sections define the blade haunch (6) and half of the handle cross-section. The insert (8) is located at the end of the free haft (2). The haft is thus secured by the mould which sandwiches the blade haunch (6) and the insert (8). It may slide in an aperture which is formed on the interface of the mould sections, and may be removed at the termination of the injection phase.
