Abstract

The method is for sorting out steel rods into lengths below normal size and/or cutting pre-determined lengths of the same material starting with varying rod lengths. The rods supplied and conveyed in groups run against a stop to align them equally for length and are then cut at a pre-determined position. The method provides that firstly the sectional group with the greatest rod lengths are clamped near their rear end. Next all the rods are freed at the front with subsequently the part group containing the shorter rods are conveyed forwards. The part group of the clamped longer rods are cut to the pre-determined length.
