Abstract

The one man bobsleight has a lightweight shell (1) in which the operator sits, with his back supported by a rear moulding (2). On each side of the shell are located fixed handgrips (12) to enable the operator to hold himself securely without being thrown out sideways. A crossbar (3) at the fron supports the heels and enables the feet to press against steering arms (4). The steering arms operate vertical spindles (9) which rotate in spiral grooves to press steering skids (10) onto the track. One skid at a time controls the steering direction. When both skids are pressed hard, to set at steep angles to the sleigh, a braking effect is generated.
