Abstract

The hub and roller is carried on end bearings which support the trunnions at the end of the hub. The hub has flanged ends (1) and the flanges are covered by a cylinder which carries the paper or other material being rolled. The centre of the hub is machined into square section to take four flexible cylinders (3) which rest in the wedge shaped spaces created under the outer cylinder. When the cylinder rotates correctly, the flexible cylinders lie in the wide part of the wedge. On back rotation the cylinders roll to the narrow part of the wedge and stop the roll.
