Abstract

The chopper wheel is installed in a maize harvesting machine and comprises two side discs (5) each side of a central hub (4). Blade holders (2) are fixed to the discs, each holder being a flat rectangular section bar fixed at an angle of 8 deg. to the wheel rotation. This provides the cutting angle of the blades. Holders are spaced at intervals of 20 deg. around the wheel circumference, being inclined at an angle to the raius. The spring steel blades (1) are attached by screws and are replaced when worn. Each blade comes into contact with a fixed blade (6), the rotating blades giving clean cutting.
