Abstract

The plastic part of the bumper is of deep U cross section, and is stiffened with several deep longitudinal ribs. The plastic has a spring steel support fitting against the ribs and held in palce behind a ridge in the plastic. A double strip of steel may be used, the two lengths not being fastened together. The steel strip serves for fastening the bumper to the vehicle; where the bumper curves round at the ends, separate pieces of spring steel are used.
