Abstract

The boots are ventilated by means of the sole (1) which has a cellular construction and a tube (2) which extends from the sole to the top of the boot. At the top of the tube there is a valve so that the air can only circulate in one direction. As the wearer of the boots walks the sole is compressed so expelling the humid air through the tube and opening the valve. When the foot is raised the sole regains its normal shape and air is sucked in closing the valve. This air is warmed by contact with the sock rubbing on the boot.
