Abstract

The read-write unit is used for transport tickets (1) with a magnetic track, which are carried by a conveyor etc. along a given path. It comprises means for holding the ticket (1) on a fixed circular surface, which is scanned by a rotary magnetic transducer head. Pref. each ticket e.g. a train ticket, is made from card and is rectangular with a magnetic strip centred on its longitudinal axis. The tickets are passed from an input slot to an output slot via transport rollers, with a circular surface in the path of the tickets between the input and output slots. The ticket (1) is held against this circular surface by a movable foot (4) with a concave face (5) of cooperating form.
