Abstract

In the head is a toothed wheel driven by a motor. This engages with, and moves, a vertical rack positioned between two guide rails. A lower extension of the rack is connected to a roller running between horizontal guide rails. The casing of the upper portion of the arm is connected to this positioning system. Through it runs two parallel linkages pivoted on thne rack, one being counterweighted. A bell crank and link connected to the linkages operates the pickup head which also pivots on the casing of the lower portion, this casing also being jointed to the upper case.
