Abstract

Between in each case two stairs there is arranged spacer (14, 34) which is provided on its two end surfaces in each case with a cutout for receiving a compensating piece (16, 36). The cutouts (23, 24; 46, 48) are provided in each case with a different depth. If the spacer is cylindrical and the compensating piece is designed as a circular ring, each cutout has a groove which is open towards the outer circumference of the spacer (14, 34). In a newel staircase of this type, a large number of possible graduations of the stairs is achieved with a small number of compensating pieces of different thicknesses.
