Abstract

The microgranules have three concentric layers. The first (interior) layer comprises an inert excipient; the second layer comprises vincamine (deriv.); and the third (external) layer comprises microporous shell of an active excipient. The inert excipient consists of >2 of saccharose, starch, steric acid, lactose and talc. The active excipient comprises >=2 natural and/ or synthetic polymers chosen from gelatin, gum arabic, gum lac, cellulose acetatephthalate, ethyl cellulose, polyoxyethylene glycol, copoly (styrene-acrylonitrile), polymethacrylates and polyvinylpyrrolidone. The microgranules give regular, progressive release of vincamine giving a constant rate of diffusion over long periods, needing admin. only twice a day c.f. 6 times for prior forms.
