Abstract

The heat distributor for railway lines reduces increases in temperature caused by the action of certain types of brakes. The distributor is manufactured from a metal which has better heat conduction and magnetic properties than the rail itself. It resembles a fish-plate in appearance, and has a cavity for location in position against the lower edge of the top of the rail. Each distributor is pressed into position and secured either by a flexible clamp (7) or by a fixing-piece bolted onto the runner of the rail.
