Abstract

A thermoplastic moulding compsn. contains (1) 40-80 wt. % of a polyamide, polyolefin, polyester, polycarbonate or a styrene-acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer, (2) 0-45% of a fibrous reinforcing agent, (3) 0-40% of a filler in particle form, (4) 0.01-5% of an inorganic cpd. of Pb or Zn, a metallic soap, or a dibutyl- or dioctyl-tin, but not a thiotin, as stabiliser, and (5) 2-25% of an organic halogen cpd. as flame-proofing agent. Claimed stabilisers are basic Pb carbonate, tribasic and tetrabasic Pb sulphate, SnO, SnSO4, ZnCO3 and/or Zn stearate. Pref. used at 0.5-2%. The stabiliser reduces the colour change taking place during moulding, without affecting the physical properties of the polymer. A longer residence time in the mould can be tolerated.
