Abstract

A system for the remote guidance of a projectile, determining the deviation of the projectile(1) from a reference line(2) which begins at a reference point(3) with means to project a beam(5) along the reference line, the beam having in cross section a specific pattern moving in predetermined fashion, with a radiation detector in the projectile(6) which is modulated by the received beam to evaluate the position of the projectile in the beam with reference to the central reference line(2). The beam pattern is composed of two long narrow strips of illumination at right angles sweeping at a known frequency across the section of the beam, and the signal processing unit in the projectile receiver(6) determines the times between the actual passages of the two flat beams and the reference time when in correct alignment.
