Abstract

The plastic fitting is designed to join together two links which pivot relative to each other to a limited extent. It is particularly suitable for the links in wind-screen wipers. It consists of a curved spine (4) which lies in the plane of the links (9, 10) and has two parallel side pieces (6) at right angles to the centre of the spine. These side pieces have bearing pins (7) projecting laterally from the outer face, with the ends chamferred towards the spine. Two other projections (2,3) extend at right angles to the first pair. They are also chamferred at the tips so that they can be inserted easily into a hole in the wiper link (9). There are shoulders (2a,3a) for snap-fit retention. The U-section connecting link (10) has holes drilled in its flanges which deform elastically when the bearing pins are pushed into place.
