Abstract

The equipment is for securing fittings to pneumatic stays forming part of orthopaedic garments etc. It comprises a flat sheath (1) of flexible material, and whose dimensions are such that, once a stay (P1, P2) is inserted in it and inflated the force exerted by the latter is sufficient to prevent slipping. Two such sheaths can be secured together to form a cruciform joint, typically by sewing, and a complete assembly of stays. The design can also be used where it is desired to prevent involuntary movement of the arms and legs, a dorsal stay having others for the legs and forearms, secured to it by such sheaths.
