Abstract
Method comprises creating and measuring a temp. gradient on an accessible surface. The temp. gradient represents the distribution and the degree of leakages and is detected by heat sensitive substances with change in colour with changes in temp., e.g. cholesteryl liq. crystals. The temp. gradient is produced by an exothermic reaction between two gases, contained in spaces on either side of the wall under observation, coming into contact if a leak occurs. The gases in the spaces are maintained at different presures from one another. The heat-sensitive substances may be applied as paints in zones distributed so as to be affected by any leak. The zones may be platelets incorporation an adhesive layer and a plastic support layer covered with the paint. The gases may be ammonia and formaldehyde or ethanal.
