Abstract

Formamidine derivs. of formula (I) (where R1 is phenyl opt. mono-, di- or trisubstd.; R2 is 1-4C alkyl; and R3 and R4 are 1-8C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl or (3-6C cycloalkyl)-methyl, or NR3R4 is a 5- to 8- membered heterocyclic ring opt. substd. by 1-4C alkyl and opt. interrupted by an O- or S-atom), e.g. N-methyl-N-(dimethylaminosulphenyl)-N(-(4-chloro-2-methylphenyl/-- formamidine, are new cpds. (I) are pesticides, esp. insecticides and acaricides, which can be used against e.g. ticks and mites of the families Ixodidae, Argasidae, Tetranychidae and Dermanyssidae, injurious insects of the family aphididae (e.g. Myzus persicae or aphis fabae), and rice stem borers (e.g. Chilo suppressalis). Some of the cpds. (I) have marked activity as plant growth regulators or herbicides.
