Abstract
Pre- or post-emergent herbicidal agents contain as active ingredients S-arylisothioureas of general formula (I) which are prepd. according to the reaction scheme:- (where R and R' indep. = H, C1-8-alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl or NRR' = a heterocyclic ring opt. contg. other hetero atoms. R2, R3 and R4 = Hal, NO2, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, or amino or substd. amino m, n, o = 0-5 with (m+n) =5). or by reaction of corresp. imino-halogencarbonic acid thioesters with corresp. amines. The compds. are used at 0.5-20 kg/ha; at the higher concns. they are total herbicides and at lower concns. they are selective.
