Abstract

A forged signature detecting system extracts identifying characteristics by determining the writing pressure occuring between the writing instrument and writing surface as an electrical signal. The signature (8) is written on a writing surface (3) whose face has relief structuring in at least one direction and varying from point to point. The electrical signal (7) can be analysed and transformed into a binary or numerical code which is recorded on the identification card. The length of time of the electrical signal (7) can be recorded on a magnetic carrier on the identification card. The head (2) of the writing instrument (1) is ball-shaped and of greater radius than the line space of the profiled grooved surface (3).
