Abstract

The fire escape system allows escape from high buildings through the windows and roof. A hook or swing-out bracket (6) is installed at every window or apartment. To escape from a window, a cable with a seat attached is fastened to the hook and a safety harness is worn by the escaper. Descent down the cable is controlled by a braking device around the cable and operated by the escaper. At roof level, flexible ladders (3) kept on reels (11) are moved along rails to a convenient position and the ladder dropped over. Arms are used to clear the face of the building.
