Abstract

Insecticidal compsn are prepd. by combining, at the time of use, (a) an aq. soln of a sugar and opt. a dye, attractant, and preservative and (b) a non-aq. compsn. contg. a solvent, an insecticide, a surfactant formed by ethylene oxide condensation with a hydroxyl cpd. and opt. a dye, attractant, insecticide synergist and preservativE. Partic. useful for application to the walls etc. of animal sheds. Most other attractant insecticides cannot be applied as an aqs suspension. The two solns are pref. mixed in the ratio 5-100 ml non-aqs. soln per 10 litres of aq. soln. Suitable insecticides include organophosphorus, organochlorine, carbamic acid, and pyrethrin derivs. In an example, an aq. liq. contained 100 g sucrose, 5 g violet dye and 10 g protein hydrolysate per litre. A non-aqs. soln contained 250 g bromophos, 25g oxyethylene (14 moles) actylphenol, 20 g butyl hydroxy anisole, 5 g blue dye, 150 g cyclohexanone and toluene to 1 litre 20 ml non-aqs was mixed with 10 litres aq. soln.
