Abstract
The equipment generates heat energy by natural or forced convection. The source is constituted by lights, typically incandescent lamps operating in a vacuum, or those operating on gas or sodium vapour. The equipment can incorporate a series of finned plates of material treated to give a radiation characteristic to suit the operating temp. Opposite these plates there can be others which are not heat-conductive, but which are bright-polished. These are mounted horizontally, one at the top and the other at the bottom. The lamp can be arranged to operate at normal, sub-normal and supra-normal voltages. The lamp operation is intermittent as a result of the functioning of a control circuit with a voltage controlled oscillator, trigger circuit, NOR gate and astable multi-vibrator.
