Abstract

The gas tap has a valve member (9) at the end of a control rod (11) to close a gas outlet. The tap has an inlet chamber (7) and an outlet chamber (8) joined by a passage which can be closed by a valve member (12) coupled to the control rod. The second valve member is a flexible strip fixed to an apertured diaphragm (3) separating the chambers and acted on by the control rod at one end. The strip is curved with various radii to give progressive closing of the diaphragm apertures. The diaphragm apertures are typically in a triangular formation to give progressive closure.
